"I left my family in Tassie to study veterinary science in Melbourne. Originally I had a house mate but things didn’t work out and I was left living by myself. It soon became very lonely and all I wanted was my family dog (Charlie) who I left behind in Tassie. It wasn’t fair bringing him to Melbourne as I was living in an apartment with a small balcony, and he was used to having a huge backyard to run around in. My second year in Melbourne, I had found my feet at uni and was keen to add a furry companion back into my life. I really wanted a female chocolate Parti Miniature Labradoodle, and the breeder I found was expecting a litter. However when they were born, there was only a male Parti, so I went with a chocolate female and I’m so glad I made that decision. There is never a dull moment with Bailey. I love her funny little quirks. She loves food and has worked out that when the fridge opens, there are treats given. If she doesn’t get one she will sit and stare at me until I give in! Bailey has separation anxiety, over time she has improved but it’s so sad hearing her cry and howl when I’m not home. If only she could understand that I’ll always come back to her, maybe she wouldn’t be so anxious. Having Bailey in my life means walking in the cold when you don’t feel like it, disrupted sleep ins and maybe a destroyed sock here and there. But it’s also warm snuggles on the couch, the happiest greetings every time I get home and endless laughter over her antics. I wouldn’t have it any other way."
